While visiting the small town of South Hill, my husband and I stumbled upon this gem – 313 Franklin – Cocktails and Kitchen. The name itself was intriguing, so we ventured in. The atmosphere is inviting, with a rich history and beautiful decor. I loved that they turned the old high school into a charming restaurant; although you wouldn’t know it by the looks of the chic furnishings and the tablescaping. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. All of the restaurant staff were attentive without being overbearing. My husband and I enjoyed the specially crafted cocktails, a blackberry sour and a smoked old-fashioned. The cocktails were balanced and tasty. Our appetizer, the crab dip was creamy, but not heavy or overpowering. For lunch, I enjoyed their burger of the month, which was so delicious. I can’t tell you all of the things on the burger, but normally, I would not have put all of these meats and cheeses together, but they blended very well on my burger. The burger was cooked to order and was very juicy. My husband’s lunch sirloin was also cooked nicely and was just the right portion. For dessert, we tried their homemade lemon cake, which looked and tasted amazing, an excellent summer treat. We will definitely be back! The ambiance was exquisite from point of entry! Customer service is important to me and 313 didn't disappoint. The prices were reasonable.

Fabulous dining experience! The food was fantastic and service was pleasant and attentive. The environment was well thought out and paid homage to the historic school with excellence and details. Highly recommend 313 Franklin We will be back to try the rest of the menu.

My first stop into 313 and I was amazed. I love the small, home town charm where everyone was friendly and welcoming. The scallops were perfect, and the cream brulee was homemade on site. This will be a regular stop for me in South Hill, VA. Highly recommended for I-85 travelers looking for a quality meal, or folks in town. Much thanks for the fine food, excellent service, and southern hospitality.

Our initial visit was 2 years ago, and it made a great impression. So we were back in the area, so we returned and were not disappointed. The front house staff were o point, our waiter Hunter was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Without saying the food was outstanding, duck wantons, disco fries, and burgers. The smoked Old Fashioned was finely made and served with flair. Not to mention very unique location in an old school building. Outstanding! Will be back when in the area.

Ok where do I start...First the building which is an old schoolhouse from the 1900’s turned into lofts plus restaurant is primo! We sat at the bar because that’s what we love but there are plenty cozy private tables available. The menu is big, but not too big. Enough to satisfy most everyone. The service was excellent. The hostess was a dear and made sure we had everything we needed. Ok now for the food...everything we ordered was excellent from sweet potato cornbread, collards, wedge salad, home cut fries, Caesar with grilled chicken. Seriously tasted homemade. I loved it here. Noted it in my travel diary. Wishing them the best

Wife and I had Valentines Day dinner here and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere and cool vibe in a former elementary school that has been beautifully renovated. Great food, especially loved the fried green tomatoes. Met owner and her parents who did the renovation and they were friendly and very welcoming. Staff very friendly and acted like family. Highly recommend and we’ll be back! Short drive from the lake and worth it.

The back entrance opens to a spacious parking lot, making it incredibly convenient for guests who don’t want to park on the Main Street. The service was nothing short of exceptional—attentive, friendly, and warm throughout our visit. Every staff member ensured we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The food was outstanding. The Salmon Tarragon was cooked to perfection, accompanied by creamy, flavorful mashed potatoes that were simply delicious. Another standout dish was the fried catfish—crispy, well-seasoned, and a must-try for any seafood lover. The ambiance was equally impressive, with tastefully designed rooms and versatile seating arrangements to suit both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. The thoughtful decor added a touch of elegance without feeling overdone. We also indulged in a bourbon flight, which showcased a diverse selection, including a few new finds that were a delight to discover. Restaurant 313 is a true gem, offering exceptional service, delectable dishes, and a charming atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot for any occasion, and I can’t wait to return!

AMAZING food and service! Met Brother and Sister in law when they were vacationing in Virginia Beach and we live in Winston Salem NC. Picked a midway point to try and see each other. The 1st place we picked was not open on Tuesday. Picked this one next and BOY did not disappoint! Beyond friendly and welcoming. VERY cool atmosphere and very relaxing setting..living 2 hrs and 20mins away I can say we will be back even living that far away!! Thank you so much for being so AMAZING!
